What Joan Rivers would have REALLY said about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce – according to daughter Melissa
Joan Rivers reportedly approved of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance but hated the NFL star’s dress sense, according to the late comedian’s daughter Melissa.
Rivers – who died in 2014 aged 81 – was known for her sharp wit and jaw-dropping jokes, with her only daughter, 56, telling DailyMail.com exclusively that the star would have influenced Taylor and Travis’ union.
Melissa said, “I think she would love Taylor to be happy because let’s be 100% honest – love her or hate her – I happen to love her – talk about a work ethic and a good example for young women.
“To say you work hard and you get the reward, she’s incredibly talented. I think she would like it; it’s fantasy again.’
“Can you imagine being on that tour and recording an album at the same time? How does her voice hold up?’

The romance between Taylor and Travis has gone from strength to strength since last summer (February photo).
Melissa joked that Joan would have criticized Travis’ quirky dress sense, adding, “I think she would hate the way Travis dresses.” I can tell you that straight out and her whole thing is like “When is she going to come into his closet” that would be her acceptance that this is a real relationship, any mother would then believe it.
‘Everyone has had a miss, but overall she looks very sophisticated when she’s on the red carpet. My mom would say, “honey, I know you love him, let’s make it up to him now.”
‘ Right now I love that she’s just letting him be himself, but let’s put him into something else. Men’s fashion for me – you can do the essence of trends – very few men can do crazy things, you have to do what I say is an “essence of”, printed trousers and a plain shirt or the crazy shirt with the plain trousers, we don’t have to not to do both.
Taylor and Travis officially confirmed their romance last September and have been seen packing on the PDA numerous times since.
Swift will resume her The Eras Tour on May 9 in France.
Joan died on September 4, 2014 in a New York City hospital due to complications from a medical procedure.
The star was sedated with propofol before dying from a lack of blood oxygen during a procedure to treat voice changes and acid reflux, the New York City medical examiner said.
The medical examiner’s office reported no apparent medical malpractice and determined the manner of death as a “therapeutic complication.”
Earlier this year Melissa said the iconic comedian would have embraced the new weight loss pills dominating the Hollywood scene after several A-listers did admitted to dropping pounds using Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro.

“Oh, she would have thought Ozempic was the best thing since sliced bread,” the TV host said People.
“Her two least favorite things were diet and exercise, so what if she could find a way to avoid both? Great,” she joked.
Melissa also mentioned a trend that Joan would have mocked: athletic clothing.
“She wouldn’t have been attracted to athleisure and people wearing sweatpants everywhere,” she claimed.
‘She would say: no, you get dressed, pull yourself together, put on a little lip gloss and then you go outside.’
However, Melissa said her mother would have been “very excited about body acceptance.”
The loss still weighs heavily on Melissa, as she was very close to her mother.
“I think about her most when something ridiculous happens,” Melissa explained. “A lot of our calls started with, ‘Okay, are you ready for this?’

Despite her mother’s absence, Melissa continues to hear her voice and feel her spirit.
“I think about her especially when I get upset and have to stop and think, ‘What would she do in this particular situation?’
“And I hear her voice saying, ‘Oh Melissa, please stop.’ Get over it! ”
