Arsenal supporters have mocked Manchester United’s Sofyan Amrabat as he was convincingly beaten by Martin Odegaard.

United faced one of the toughest games in the competition on Sunday as they hosted title-chasing Arsenal at Old Trafford and fell behind early on through Leandro Trossard’s goal, which proved to be the winner.

The Red Devils hoped to bounce back from a 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on Monday, but struggled again as the pressure on Erik ten Hag continued to increase.

The Dutchman took a slightly different approach to the match, with Abrabat replacing Christian Eriksen in midfield and the hosts defending in a 4-4-2 shape rather than being more open.

However, one moment was highlighted by the supporters in the match, with Arsenal captain Odegaard gaining the upper hand over loanee Amrabat.

In the 55th minute of the match, Odegaard collected the ball on the right side of the pitch, about halfway down the line, via a deflection off Scott McTominay.

Amrabat tried to pressure his opponent, but Odegaard showed good feet to get away from the midfielder, pretending to move left and eventually finishing right, breaking away from the Fiorentina loanee to continue the attack.

The man from Morocco ultimately overcommitted himself and fell to the ground as Odegaard advanced with the ball in the United half.

“Odegaard is so rude, Amrabat has a family you know,” one fan posted on X, formerly Twitter, accompanied by two laughing emojis.

“What Martin Odegaard just did to Sofyan Amrabat is illegal in 95 percent of countries around the world,” wrote another.

A third posted: ‘Odegaard takes out Amrabat straight away,’ accompanied by a gif of Ryan Gosling laughing.

United showed an overall better performance in the match, but failed to create clear-cut chances to test Arsenal’s defence.

The Gunners have built a determined defense this season and have conceded five fewer goals than any other side this term.

At the other end of the pitch, goalscorer Trossard left Aaron Wan-Bissaka on his back as the United defender slipped as Arsenal pushed for a second goal.

The second goal never came, but that one was enough as Arsenal took the title race to the final day.
