Avicii’s ex-girlfriend Emily Goldberg has tragically died aged just 34, just a year after celebrating being ‘cancer free’.
Emily died on April 3 in La Jolla, California, of a pulmonary embolism – a blood clot that blocks and stops blood flow to an artery in the lung.
Her family describes her as a ‘lively and unique person who has experienced many adventures in her all-too-short life’.
Emily last posted to her Instagram in May last year when she shared a photo of herself lying in a hospital bed with a thumbs up to the camera.
She captioned the photo: ‘I was living b****. I have had cancer for the past year. I am now cancer free.’

The post has since been flooded with condolences to her family from Avicii fans, as they wrote: “I hope you are reunited with your soulmate Tim and that you are both enjoying peace and quiet.”

Emily is survived by her parents, Julie and Sam Goldberg of La Jolla, and brother Aaron Goldberg of Chicago, Illinois.
Emily and the late DJ dated from 2011 to 2013 before the hitmaker, whose real name was Tim Bergling, died by suicide in 2018 at the age of 28.
Emily revealed her heartbreak on social media the day after his sudden death in Oman as she shared a screenshot of text messages between the pair, as well as a handful of personal photos of them together.
She wrote, “Come on baby, don’t give up on us. Choose me, and I will show you love.” Those are lyrics from a song that Tim wrote for me. I wish I could have made them happen.”
She continued, “During the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante and my best friend. Now I can’t look at Bear without knowing I’ll never see his face again. I
“I’m still gathering my thoughts and thank you for all your kind words and texts. Wake me up when it’s all over because I don’t want it to be real #ripavicii.”
She also shared a WhatsApp conversation she had with the musician from an unknown date. She wrote: ‘I love you Tim!’ The superstar DJ replied, “I love you too, emilyyyy.”
