Mum-of-two Bonney was grateful when Australian showbiz legend Kamahl offered her a $2,000 loan over dinner. But when they met for their next meal, an ugly feud broke out – and their next meeting will be in court
EXCLUSIVE
A beautician who has accused Australian entertainment icon Kamahl of stalking and harassment has broken her silence as she denies the singer’s version and comes forward with new shocking allegations.
Bonney Garay, 38, has filed for an assault warrant against the 89-year-old showbiz legend after he allegedly threatened her during a fight over the repayment of the $2,000 he lent her company in May last year.
Kamahl told 9News that Ms. Garay invited him to dinner to ask for business financing and that he gave her the money after she agreed to pay him back $5 a week.
However, when Ms. Garay sent him a refund, she added a wild accusation in a text box with the transaction description, which led to the ugly feud between the couple. There is no suggestion that Kamahl committed the conduct in the accusation.
“I just wanted to let you know that your behavior is not acceptable and that you are lucky I didn’t go to the authorities,” she later messaged the Hey Hey It’s Saturday star.

Kamahl has been charged with stalking with intent to cause fear and has a court hearing scheduled for next month
Kamahl responded, “You are a liar and a failure and most of all an ungrateful b***h.”
Kamahl was later charged with stalking and harassment over the alleged messaging and the case remains in court.
Ms. Garay met Kamahl through a mutual friend and insists he offered her the $2,000 loan without any prompting from her.
Ms Garay said the drama unfolded after Kamahl had dinner at her home twice last year, while a friend was also with them for the first meal.
During the first visit, she said the entertainer heard about her business and offered to contribute.
“I never asked him for money,” she said.

“He said he wanted to invest in the company, I said OK and I said I’d be happy to pay him back.”
Ms. Garay said Kamahl wired her the money a few weeks later and asked if he could come to her house for dinner.
She says Kamahl invited herself to her home for the second dinner, when it was just the two of them, but she ended the evening when an argument broke out.
“This time I didn’t have a third person with me,” she revealed before the pair started arguing and “…then I chased him out of the house.”
Ms. Garay alleged that Kamahl then bombarded her with “non-stop messages.”
She said she never expected the alleged incidents to happen because of Kamahl’s age, and that she had initially seen him as a “nice old man.”
However, Kamahl has vehemently denied Ms Garay’s claims, telling Daily Mail Australia they were ‘absolutely bull***t’.
“The reason I was there was because our mutual friend was staying with her and I was invited,” he said.
“About three weeks later, Bonney said, ‘Do you want to come over for dinner?’ I remember it was her daughter’s eleventh birthday and I brought her a present.’
Kamahl said at the dinner that Ms. Garay expressed that her financial condition was dire and that she was “begging” him for a loan.
He said he felt sorry for her and agreed to lend her the money before transferring $2,000 to her account the next day.
According to her beauty clinic’s website, Ms. Garay is a trained cosmetic tattoo artist and beautician
However, he said communication broke down until he messaged her a few months ago requesting the refunds – only to discover the transaction description.
“There’s no way I would have invited myself there,” he said.
“I didn’t know her that well.”
At the time of the loan, Ms. Garay owned a wellness and beauty clinic in eastern suburbs, offering cosmetic tattoos, facials, Reiki energy healing and massage.
Over the past decade she has run several businesses, including one focused on interior design, but two months ago she posted her job title on social media under “Feminine Empowerment Guide at B. Magnetic.”
The singer – who used the catchphrase ‘Why are people so unkind?’ coined during his long career in show business – told Daily Mail Australia he has lent people money in the past and been burned and ‘should have learned my lesson’.
Kamahl said he was no longer taking medication at the time he sent the message to Ms. Garay and had “responded on a whim.”
Three years ago, Kamahl divorced Sahodra, his wife of 55 years, citing marital problems stemming from his addiction to social media.
He will appear in Sutherland Local Court on June 7 on charges of stalking and harassment.
