Billionaire’s ex wife issues astonishingly entitled divorce demand in newly-unearthed, self-pitying email

A billionaire’s ex-wife has rejected a “humiliating and humiliating” divorce offer worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Jenny Paulson, former wife of hedge fund manager John Paulson, claims she makes half of her ex’s $4.7 billion fortune.

In an email obtained by Page sixPaulson wrote that her ex-partner’s offer after 24 years of marriage was “too humiliating” and criticized plans to reward her daughters more than her.

“In my heart and mind I feel like I deserve a 50/50 split,” she wrote. “60/40 is OK because there have been other similar divorce settlements.”

Much of Paulson’s anger stems from the fact that she would gain far less from the arrangement than the couple’s two children.

“The idea that I should receive less than the children is demeaning and humiliating because that is the message it sends to the world and to my own daughters,” she said. “You’re not giving the person the dignity of being your partner.”

She claimed her ex only offered five percent of the wealth built during their marriage.

However, he countered that his offer would still make her one of the richest women in America.

The investor made his money by betting on the housing market before the 2008 collapse.

Sources told Page Six that his offer would net Paulson hundreds of millions of dollars upfront and more over time.

They would then split their properties and assets, including their vast real estate portfolio, which included estates in Aspen and the Hamptons.

The couple separated in 2021 and began private divorce proceedings, which failed, as evidenced by the 2022 email.

In the messages, Paulson referred to a “secret web” of trusts set up as a “gimmick” used to “control” her.

She was furious that the proposed deal would leave her ex-husband “in control of the trusts and money.” It’s humiliating and I feel sick with humiliation.’

She declined the “disrespectful, shameful and humiliating” offers and vowed to take the matter to court.

“A lawsuit can take years and be very expensive, but I am doing this for my daughters, who look up to me, and one day they will be wives and mothers like me,” Paulson said.

The billionaire’s team previously hit back, stating that the trusts were set up 20 years ago to protect the children, but Paulson is trying to get the assets for himself.

They claim that breaking up the trusts would cost the children a staggering $1 billion in taxes.

“Not only was Jenny offered hundreds of millions of dollars in a divorce settlement, but John previously offered to ask the trustees to remove future spouses and children as trust beneficiaries,” one of his attorneys said.

“She flatly rejected the offer. So her argument that she is opening the trusts to protect her children is absolutely false.”

Robert S. Cohen, counsel for Paulson, responded: “This is typical of Mr. Paulson. He seems to prefer to use the children in the media, with false accusations against Ms. Paulson, as a weapon to bully her and give up her right to a day in court under the rule of law.

“He knows that New York State law entitles Mrs. Paulson to an equitable distribution of the assets they built up during their marriage. But in fact, all Mr. Paulson has offered to Mrs. Paulson is “compensation.” That’s a fact.’

He joked that the billionaire might be “a shortage of cash as a result of betting so much of his money on expensive parties and big donations to help Trump’s presidential ambitions,” referring to a recent fundraiser he held for White House hopefuls in his house in Florida.

The event was hosted by Paulson, 68, and his new fiancée Alina de Almeida, 35.

The couple got engaged while he was still embroiled in bitter divorce proceedings.
