The leaked Beats Pill speaker may have just resurfaced in iOS 17.5
Thanks to some not-so-subtle leaks various celebrities in recent weeks we’ve known that a Beats Pill speaker is likely on the way – and new images spotted in the upcoming iOS 17.5 software all but confirm this.
A little digging into the iOS 17.5 test code from the team at AppleInsider has unveiled the rumored speaker in three different colors: black, gold, and red. No other information is included, so we’re left guessing about details like price and release date.
Apple itself has said that iOS 17.5 will be released in the very near future – presumably with support for the upcoming speaker – and given the Beats Pill leaks we’ve seen so far, it shouldn’t be long before everything is made official .
Just a few days ago we saw a number of updated Beats products break through, and our full Beats Solo 4 review gives you an overview of one of those products: the new headphones bring spatial audio and up to 50 hours of battery life.
The Beats continue
The last we saw of this particular speaker range was the Beats Pill Plus, which was discontinued in 2022. It looks like someone on the Beats team thinks it’s time for another attempt at making one of the best Bluetooth speakers in the industry.
Unfortunately, we can’t give you an idea of the kind of proposition the new Beats Pill speaker could offer. The Beats Pill Plus, for reference, weighed just over 0.75kg and cost $230 / £190 / AU$360 at launch.
Our wish list for a new and improved model is nothing special: fantastic sound, impressive battery life and a price that won’t break the bank. Hopefully that’s not too much to ask, Beats?
This isn’t the only leak of compact portable speakers we’ve seen this week either: images claiming to show the Sonos Roam 2 have made their way online, so anyone looking for a speaker to play music on the go , is about to introduce some notable new options.
