Katherine Jenkins will join forces with screen legend Sir Anthony Hopkins for George Frideric Handel biopic The King Of Covent Garden
Katherine Jenkins OBE and Sir Anthony Hopkins CBE are joining forces for the upcoming Handel biopic The King Of Covent Garden.
The Welsh opera singer, 43, will executive produce the film, while fellow countryman Anthony Handel will star.
Handel was a German-British composer, born in 1685 in Germany and died in 1759 in Westminster.
He wrote operas, organ concertos, oratorios, including Messiah in 1741, and four coronation songs, one of which, Zadok the Priest, has been performed at every British coronation since 1727.
The King Of Covent Garden, directed by Andrew Levitas, will focus on the creation of Messiah.

Embankment Films is handling the worldwide pre-sales of The King of Covent Garden and will present it to buyers at the Cannes film market later this month.
It describes the film as a “powerfully majestic celebration of genius that breaks all the rules to create an anthem that inspires the popular imagination of a global audience.”
Embankment also handled international sales of Hopkins’ The Father, which earned the Welsh actor his second Best Actor Oscar.
In a statement, Andrew said the film’s story will hinge on “an unlikely pair, who meet at their lowest points and together create a beautiful, never-before-heard sound for the people”: the groundbreaking masterpiece Messiah, the annual global bestseller for almost 300 years’.
He said Tim’s script is “populated by passionate, real-life experiences in all its color and grime, creating a compelling human story with surprising contemporary relevance, universal human connectivity and spiritual upliftment.”
The King Of Covent Garden will be released sometime in 2025.
