Fans were shocked to discover Vernon Kay’s real age when his wife Tess Daly shared a tribute on Instagram for his birthday.
The radio star turned 50 on Sunday, and the Strictly Come Dancing presenter – to whom he has been married since 2003 – shared a reel full of sweet, unseen images.
She captioned the post: ’50 TODAY @vernonkay So glad I spent half of those birthdays with you’
But her followers were amazed to realize the BBC Radio 2 presenter was even close to the milestone.
One said: ‘How can you never grow older? Congratulations!’

Meanwhile, the birthday boy was inundated with comments from other famous faces wishing to convey their well-wishes.
Strictly winner and former Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach wished Vernon a happy birthday and embellished her comment with heart emojis.
Other stars from the BBC Latin and ballroom competitions who sent birthday wishes included head judge Shirley Ballas, professional dancer Diane Buswell and 2015 contestant Kirsty Gallacher.
West End actresses Denise van Outen and Tamzin Outhwaite also rushed to the comments section to send each a sweet message, as did former Hear’Say star Suzanne Shaw.
The Reel featured a number of photos of the couple during their wedding, with several shots of their children Phoebe, 18, and Amber, 14, over the years.
Tess added Candi Staton’s song You Got the Love to the post and tagged a friend, noting how much he would “appreciate” the song choice.

Late last year, Tess, 54, revealed her approach to raising teenage girls, explaining how important she believes it is to be present.
“As a mother, I just want to be as present as I can. I’m proud of that,” she told OK! “Teenagers don’t always want to talk to you, but even if you’re just physically in the room with them… I just quietly plop myself down there in the corner.”

It comes after Tess revealed her husband Vernon is a strict parent to the couple’s two daughters, Phoebe, 19, and Amber, 14.
The Strictly Come Dancing presenter gave a rare insight into her home life in Buckinghamshire with Radio 2 star Vernon and their teenagers.
Tess revealed her approach to raising teenage girls, explaining that she believes attendance is key.
“As a mother, I just want to be as present as I can. I’m proud of that,” she told OK!.
“Teenagers don’t always want to talk to you, but even if you’re just physically in the room with them… I’ll just quietly plop myself down there in the corner.”

Tess went on to explain how she and Vernon make a great team, but her husband is more strict.
“Vernon is a great dad, he loves them dearly. I don’t know if there’s a good cop or a bad cop, but maybe he’s a little stricter sometimes. But it’s for the greater good and we’re a good team.”
‘I’m proud of how down to earth they are. That’s what you want: kids who are nice, have a good work ethic and respect people. You’re just trying to build good people.”
Tess and Vernon’s eldest daughter is currently studying at drama school.
