Ten Bunnings customers are injured after two men ‘spray crowd with unknown substance’
Two people have been arrested after an ‘unknown substance’ was allegedly sprayed in a Bunnings, sending ten people – nine of whom were women or girls – to hospital.
The victims suffered a ‘burning sensation in their eyes, nose and throat’ on Thursday after the incident at the Bunnings store on Peel Terrace, Northam, WA.
WA Police said that ‘in an isolated incident, two people entered the store at around 2.30pm and one of them (allegedly) sprayed an unknown substance near several customers and staff.
“Officers from Northam immediately launched an investigation, resulting in the arrest of two people.”
Ten people – seven women, two teenage girls and one man – were taken to Northam Regional Hospital by St John ambulance.
Those hospitalized included both staff and customers.

The women were between 20 and 50 years old and the man was in his 20s. The Western Australia reported.
Their injuries were not life-threatening.
“We take the safety of our team and our customers incredibly seriously and we thank our team for the way they calmly managed the situation,” a Bunnings spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia on Friday evening, confirming the incident.
‘As this is now a police matter we cannot comment further.’
Seven firefighters responded to the scene in Northam, 95 km northwest of the capital Perth.
The police investigation is still ongoing.
