Tom Holland sports a bruise after ‘being hit on the head with a golf ball’ while playing a round at St Andrews

His most famous film character uses his ‘spider sense’ to detect danger.

But none of Spider-Man’s superpowers appear to have rubbed off on Hollywood actor Tom Holland this weekend when he was apparently hit in the head with a ball during a round of golf in Scotland.

A number of witnesses claim the star was unaware the stray ball was hurtling towards him before it hit him on the forehead.

The Spider-Man star, who plays off a six handicap and is a regular at amateur events, played near St Andrews in Fife in the first Tom Holland Charity Golf Day.

The 27-year-old, who plays Peter Parker in the Marvel films, appeared at the opening gala of a film festival at the Byre Theatre, St Andrews, that evening with a round, red abrasion on his head.

Making a rare appearance with his look-alike younger brother Harry, the actor, 27, shone in snaps as he cut a casual figure in a beige open-neck polo top and matching chinos.

Meanwhile, his younger brother, 25, opted for a simple white T-shirt, black vest and jeans.

Tom, who has joked about his height in the past, appeared slightly shorter than his younger brother as they shared an uncanny resemblance with the same head of brown hair.

Bracing the Scottish wind, the Spiderman star wrapped himself in a blue padded jacket and matching blue trousers before donning a baseball cap as he took to the golf course.

Meanwhile, Harry embraced his inner Scot in a checked jumper vest as he posed alongside his brother on the course.

Tom and Harry are two of four brothers, Harry also has a twin, Sam, and they have a younger brother Paddy, 18.

The foursome were spotted together last September as they headed to the famous Pro-Am golf tournament at Wentworth Golf Club in Virginia Water, Surrey.

Following in their big brother’s footsteps, both Harry and Paddy are also pursuing acting careers, especially Harry, who is often seen on various film sets with Tom.

He has appeared in several of Tom’s recent films, including The Impossible, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Cherry. He also directed the 2020 short film Roses for Lily.

Tom previously opened up about his brother Harry on the Graham Norton Show in December 2021, sharing a hilarious anecdote about the moment his sibling was cast in a scene for the movie Spider-Man: No Way Home.

“We’ve cast Harry, and he’s on set and I go to the stunt coordinator and I say, ‘Please, whatever you do with the stunt, make sure it’s upside down.’

‘We do the scene. Harry hangs upside down from side to side. Bless him, he’s doing very well. And as the day goes on he gets these lines and he starts forgetting his lines and his eyes are about to pop out of his head.

“But the icing on the cake – and I don’t think he really knows this – we recently saw the movie and they deleted the scene. It’s not in the movie.’

Tom also told Jimmy Kimmel in 2019 that he and Harry were trying to start a production company together, while talking about how much he relies on his brother.

He said: ‘We’re trying to set up a production company together, we wrote a script together and I work for him. … If Harry hadn’t been in my life, I wouldn’t have gotten here tonight.”

Tom then called himself “stupid” and commented that his brother “has to constantly tell me where to go.”

His agent was contacted for comment yesterday.
