Dermatologist reveals exactly how to tell if your hair loss is ‘NORMAL’ – or if your shedding tresses are a sign that ‘you have a problem’
A board-certified dermatologist has revealed how much hair you can lose before it indicates there’s a problem.
Dr. Lindsey Zubritsky, based in Mississippi, shared the information in a recently surfaced video which was posted to her TikTok account in February.
The dermatologist, better known as @dermguru often makes videos on social media sharing various tips for skin and hair health.
In this excerpt, Dr. Zubritsky created a numbered chart showing the hair loss scale and what it actually looks like.

‘Did you know that it is actually normal to lose between 100 and 200 hairs every day?’ Zubritsky opened up in the video, which has been viewed more than two million times to date.

“If your hair starts to look like this, it’s about four hundred hairs, or this, it’s about seven hundred and fifty hairs, then you have a problem,” she said.

So while the thought of losing 100 hairs a day may seem like a lot, in the grand scheme of things it’s not much.
But if you lose more, Dr. Zubritsky recommends contacting your dermatologist to make an appointment to discuss possible courses of treatment.

In other videos, the dermatologist has also recommended products like Nutrafol, a popular hair growth supplement, and even rosemary oil.
Treatment for hair loss can range from taking medications such as Rogaine, biotin, zinc or collagen to procedures such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy or light therapy. Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Zubritsky recommended using the oil twice a day for at least six months, applying it directly to the scalp.
She said the oil should not be mixed with shampoo and used more than one to three times a week.
“If you’re using rosemary oil once or twice a week and have only been using it for two to three months and you haven’t noticed any results, it’s because you’re not doing it right,” she said. in the TikTok clip.
