Police spokesperson Kolby Crossley emphasized how terrifying the incident was, describing how the victim was unaware of the danger:
“It’s a frightening and terrible situation that happened and this person had no idea what was going to happen to him,” Crossley said.
The killer also made no attempt to hide his heinous act.
Crossley told it Fox13 the brutal stabbing ‘happened in the casino on the casino floor’
‘There were a lot of people around. There were a lot of cameras,” he said. The suspect was arrested at the scene ‘without incident’.
Auburn authorities believe the two men had no relationship or contact before the murder, which took place on the casino floor in front of shocked patrons.
The Auburn Police Department has now launched an investigation into the case, but investigators are faced with an incredibly intimidating and confusing case.
Because the killer and the victim had no previous contact with each other, it will be difficult to determine a motive.
But law enforcement in Auburn remains optimistic. Crossley said: ‘We’re going to find out why and how and what led this person to act so horribly.’
