Florida woman who lives on a 39FT catamaran with her husband and their DOG reveals the wildest things about life on the high seas – from how they shower to where their pup POOPS

From dog toilet breaks to doing the laundry, a sailor has given a glimpse into some of the quirky aspects of life at sea.

Sierra Swezey, who is originally from Florida, lives on a 35-foot catamaran with her husband, Billy, and their dog, Jetty, and has built a social media following thanks to their adventures on the water.

But at one series of TikToksSierra reveals some of the crazier sides of boat life and in one clip she addresses their ‘most asked question’ about how their dog goes to the toilet.

She explains that they usually take their dinghy to shore every morning so that Jetty can take a walk and “do her business,” and that they do the same excursion in the evening.

However, she adds, “But on the rare occasion we sail offshore for days, she goes potty on the water. [catamaran] trampoline and we just wash it off with soap and water.’

Swezeys’ current boat is the fifth vessel they own and live in and they specialize in boat renovation. In one TikTok, Sierra gives viewers a tour of their modern catamaran

Sierra says they generally take their dinghy to a shoreline every morning so Jetty can go for a walk and “do her business,” and then they do the same excursion in the evening.

In another TikTok, Sierra shows how they recently got their first small washing machine and how it works.

She tells viewers as she goes through the step-by-step process, “I normally do things quickly to save as much water as possible.

‘We normally do laundry on a day when we use the engines. Because the motors charge batteries, the watermaker uses a lot of electricity and the washing machine uses a lot of water.

“So we use both the watermaker and the washing machine at the same time as the motors.”

Once the laundry is done, Sierra shows how to simply place the boat rails on the deck to dry.

While at sea, the sailor reveals in a TikTok how they often experience heavy rain showers but always strive to “take advantage of the rain.”

In the video, Sierra shows how they build a rain catchment tank so they can fill their water tanks for “dishwashing and showering.”

She also shows how the heavy tropical rain also provides the perfect opportunity to clean the ship decks and take a shower.

Swezeys’ current boat is the fifth vessel they have owned and lived in, and they specialize in boat renovations.

In one TikTok, Sierra gives viewers a tour of their modern catamaran.

On the starboard hull she shows a guest room, a functional kitchen, another guest room currently used to store their surfboards, and a bathroom where the faucet doubles as a pull-out shower head to save space.

When she goes back upstairs, she shows the drawing room or living room “where the table goes down to make a huge bed.”

The adventurer continues: ‘We also have a day bed, where we sleep during the night sails.

‘[Then there is] a navigation desk where we also do all our editing and Jetty’s food and water [area] Naturally.’

Continuing her tour, Sierra ventures down into the port hull, which she says is her and Billy’s space.

She explains: ‘[Here] we have the master bathroom with a walk-in shower and an electric flush head (toilet).

“As we walk forward we have a lot of storage and then we come to our room where we have a queen bed that we can get into from either side.”

Sierra notes that they have “multiple downwind hatches and two fans,” which is important when cruising in hot climates.

During more than 10 years of sailing, the Swezeys have reached many places on the map.

Their claims include Antigua, Bahamas, Barbuda, Canada, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadalupe Martinique, Puerto Rico, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Martin and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

They recently spent more than two months exploring the waters around the Bahamas.
