Calls for The Block to be axed after contestants QUIT just weeks into filming at Phillip Island and viewers criticise producers for focusing on ‘drama’ and not the renovations
There are calls to cancel The Block after producers were criticized for focusing on ‘drama’ rather than renovating the houses.
Although this season of the Channel Nine show has yet to air, photos from a promotional shoot have all but confirmed that one team has already left.
Now viewers of the renovation program have taken to social media to complain about the direction the once-loved series has taken and are calling for the program to be axed.
It comes after last year’s season was full of drama, constant feuding and bullying among the Blockheads.
“It’s past its prime, time to do it,” one user wrote.

“It seems like people don’t have enough drama in their lives and have to watch crap on TV to fill the empty space in their lives,” another viewer commented.
‘Building drama…not building houses…’
‘It’s sad, isn’t it. I should rename the show ‘The Drama’… and NOT The Block,” one user agreed.
‘It’s because the producers think we want drama in it. It’s about the reno and who makes the best house.”
Earlier this month, the Channel Nine reality show was rocked by rumors that a crew had left the job just two weeks after filming.
Viewers of the renovation program have taken to social media to complain about the direction the once-loved series has taken and are calling for the program to be axed.
And behind-the-scenes photos from a cast photoshoot at Phillip Island on April 8 certainly suggest that’s true, as the Blue team – made up of an athletic man and a glamorous blonde woman – are nowhere to be seen.
Meanwhile, two previously unseen women dressed in swimwear and pink caps were spotted among the cast members, suggesting they are a last-minute addition to the show.
The shocking sighting follows reports that the Western Australia-based Blue Team did not forcibly remove the show, but opted to leave voluntarily.

‘They certainly weren’t kicked off the show. They left on their own. The decision was not taken lightly and has thrown a spanner in the works,” an insider told Yahoo.
“Once producers realized these guys were out, the decisions about who could replace them began and a few options were discussed.”
They added that several previous cast members “begged for a second chance” to appear on the show – but these snaps appear to confirm that they have not returned.

The vibrant photos taken last week show that the newly added Pink team consists of two beautiful young women in their late twenties: a blonde and a brunette.
The two women appeared to be having the time of their lives as they posed for photos with the other four teams.
At one point, the stunners were spotted laughing with their co-stars in a nearby parking lot as they enjoyed a break between filming.
