Questions have been raised among fans online about a possible rift between some key stars within the England women’s squad after Lauren James appeared to unfollow Lionesses teammates Mary Earps and Ella Toone on social media.
The strike came after the Chelsea star endured a difficult match against Manchester United in Sunday’s FA Women’s Cup semi-final and became embroiled in a controversial incident just before half-time.
After Lucia Garcia and Rachel Williams had given United a 2-0 lead in the first half, James hit back with a goal just before half-time. In an attempt to regain the ball and make a quick restart, England striker Millie Turner appeared to deadlock as the United defender attempted to slow down play.
Turner then made light of the situation by posting a photo of James putting her in a headlock on her Instagram, among several other images, with the caption “KAMMOONNNN.” She later reposted that image to her story, writing “See you at Wembley my reds” with a heart eye emoji and a heart emoji.

One fan took to social media to express his concerns, writing: ‘I wonder if something else has happened as Earps and Toone are not exactly fringe English players. I hope LJ is doing well and I’m glad she’s protecting herself.”
