A transatlantic flight from JFK to Heathrow was canceled after a catering van rammed into the plane’s engine, causing damage to its chassis.

A bizarre image circulating online shows a white car with the ‘Gategourmet’ logo on the side wedged underneath the Airbus A350, which aviation bloggers say was the reason why the Virgin Atlantic flight from New York City to London was grounded on Monday .

The company confirmed that the flight was canceled after an incident at the gate at JFK.

In a statement issued to AirLiveThe aircraft said the ‘VS26 from New York JFK to London Heathrow has been canceled following an incident at the gate at JFK involving the bonnet of a stationary Virgin Atlantic aircraft and a catering service provider’s car driving into it.

“We can confirm that there were no customers on board the aircraft during this time.”

The airline has reportedly opened an investigation into the incident and is investigating whether any damage occurred to the aircraft.

The plane, registered as G-VDOT, parked at JFK’s gate A terminal 4 at 10:30 pm local time on Sunday evening after arriving from London.

The flight was scheduled to fly back over the pond at 8:20 a.m. and land in London at 8:10 p.m.

But this flight was canceled and was now scheduled to depart at the same time on Tuesday.
