Geelong bouncer strikes woman across the face sending her to hospital

The moment a security guard outside a nightclub punched a woman twice in the face was captured on video.

Footage showed customers watching and cheering as a fight broke out at Lambys Tavern, near Geelong’s Corio Bay Foreshore, about 12.30pm on Sunday.

A bouncer, 29, is seen punching an 18-year-old woman in the face, prompting one of his colleagues to intervene to try to separate them.

The woman, wearing a dress and high heels, confronted the guard again and was punched in the face a second time, knocking her to the ground.

Victoria Police confirmed the woman had been taken to hospital ‘for observation’.

No charges have been laid against either party at this stage.

The Corio North Geelong security guard will be interviewed by police at a later date as investigations into the incident continue.

He was employed by S&D Security, the subcontractor for the site’s security guards, but was fired after the incident. Geelong Advertiser reported.

Another skirmish can be seen in the background of the video, as another man held off two others as they tried to reach the woman.

As one broke away, the other was punched in the face, causing him to thrash violently on the ground before the video ended.

The manager of Lamby’s Tavern said staff were aware of the incident and the venue is assisting with police investigations.

“We do not accept the actions that took place outside our location,” the manager said.

“The police will handle this matter with our full support.”

A source close to the 18-year-old said he was “okay” after the “traumatic experience.”
