Tiger Woods has golf fans in stitches with ‘meme of the year’ as he is hilariously caught ‘shaking hands with a tree’ during coverage of the final round of the Masters
A strange moment involving Tiger Woods and a tree left golf fans in stitches during coverage of the Masters on Sunday.
The five-time winner made history on Friday after achieving a record-breaking 24th time, but in the two days that followed he finished bottom of the leaderboard with the score at 16 over.
While fans would have been disappointed not to see him compete for a record-tying sixth green jacket, they at least got a moment of levity during the broadcast when the 48-year-old appeared to give a handshake to a tree.
One fan joked, “Tiger Woods shaking hands with his favorite tree in Augusta. Nothing but class.’
“A rare photo of tiger forests meeting a creature,” another joked. A third said: ‘That will be meme of the year.’

Woods shook hands with legendary American commentator Verne Lundquist, who is about to hang up his microphone after the 2024 Masters
It soon became clear that Woods was in fact shaking hands with legendary American commentator Verne Lundquist.
Lundquist is taking time from his commentary duties after it was mutually decided that 2024 would be his last Masters.
As for Woods, Sunday was his 100th round at the Masters and he wore his traditional red for the final round, which started well but didn’t last long.
Woods hasn’t been truly competitive here since 2020, when he finished tied for 38th a year after his stunning fifth win at the age of 43.
He finished 13th just over two years ago before withdrawing at the third round in 2023 due to injuries not helped by the cold, rainy weather that had taken its toll on his body.
This week, Woods briefly showed a glimpse of the past.
He played the first two rounds in 1 over and made the cut for the 24th time. But the final two rounds were a struggle for Woods, who posted the worst round of his career at a major on Saturday with an 82.
