Delighted fans ignored a warning from the club and stormed the field after the match

Thousands of fans stormed the pitch as the whistle blew, despite a stern warning from the club earlier in the day.

A statement said: ‘The Club would like to remind supporters that it is crucial that the pitch is maintained to its usual high standards as we have a home game on the final day of the season.

With that in mind, we would like to remind supporters of the implications of potential pitch invasions, at any time, during the remainder of the 2023/2024 season.

‘At the end of last season, some clubs witnessed unsavory and unwelcome scenes with a small minority of people entering the field of play, while other fans entered the field in a celebratory mood.

“It is a criminal offense to enter the pitch and the real consequences of these actions have been felt by many, with some fans receiving criminal records, which could affect employment, educational prospects and international travel.”

A corner on 17 minutes led to Lee’s opener after a frantic battle in the goalmouth after Mullin’s header was blocked.

It took just six minutes for last season’s National League champions to double their lead.

Lee was involved again, releasing James McClean, who picked out Mullin at the back post to head home his 24th of the season.

There was still time for Mullin to hit Wrexham’s fourth before half-time.

A corner was only half cleared for the unmarked striker on the edge of the penalty area and his shot went into the goal.

Barnett came into action in the second half with a stunning volley from McClean’s cross to make it 5-0.

And Marriott completed the scoring six minutes from time as Wrexham and their Hollywood star owners were able to celebrate promotion with two games remaining.

Next season will be Wrexham’s first season in the third tier since the 2004-05 season. It is also the first time that the Welsh club has been promoted in consecutive seasons.
