NSW police charge man for alleged separate stabbing attack on a woman in Bondi Beach just one day before the Westfield mass murder horror

NSW Police have charged a man over an alleged separate stabbing attack on a woman in Bondi Beach just one day before the Westfield massacre.

Police said on Sunday they had arrested and charged a 43-year-old man with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm following the alleged attack on Roscoe Street in Bondi Beach on Friday.

The attack, which happened just before 11am, left a 36-year-old woman in hospital.

Paramedics treated the woman for head injuries and took her to hospital in a stable condition.

β€œA crime scene was established and officers from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” police said.

‘Following investigations, a 43-year-old man was arrested in Riverwood at around 1.20pm the same day.

β€œHe was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged.”

The alleged knife violence happened just one day before Joel Cauchi, a 40-year-old Queensland man, rampaged through the Westfied shopping center in Bondi, killing six people. He was fatally shot by police.
