PLAYER RATINGS: Four Man United players receive a 5/10 rating in draw at Bournemouth but which Red Devil is a FOUR for a ‘sub-standard’ display?

Bruno Fernandes scored twice to salvage an unconvincing 2-2 draw for Manchester United at Bournemouth as the team slipped to seventh in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Portuguese came to the rescue after Bournemouth deservedly took the lead with goals from the in-form Dominic Solanke and Justin Kluivert and although the visitors pushed for a winner it would have been undeserved.

Bournemouth created a host of early chances and led through Solanke’s clinical finish before Fernandes equalized in the 31st minute.

Kluivert took advantage of poor defending to restore Bournemouth’s lead shortly afterwards, but Fernandes sent a second-half penalty after an Adam Smith handball to give his team a point.

Bournemouth (4-2-3-1)

Net – 6

No chance to stop Fernandes’ strike before diving the wrong way for his penalty. Apart from those chances, Bournemouth’s goalkeeper was not tested nearly enough.

Adam Smith – 6

Started on the left but moved to the right after Sinisterra’s injury forced a reshuffle, conceding a penalty when the ball deflected off his arm for 2-2. Cruel? Probably.

Ilia Zabarnyi – 6

The ball turned away from him and left Fernandes with an opportunity that he simply couldn’t miss. Furthermore, I paid a lot of attention to Hojlund, who struggled to beat him.

Marcos Senesi – 6.5

Good defense and also two assists for his problems. The first after his knock-forward left Solanke on target. The second after he had found the unmarked Kluivert.

Milos Kerkez – 6

First he shot the ball to Onana. He then headed against the crossbar. He then lofted another header that begged to be buried. We just had to score.

Lewis Cook – 6

He gave Fernandes a single kick and was a general annoyance in midfield, showing far more energy than Casemiro in the center of the pitch.

Ryan Christie – 6.5

Booked for late diving – mischievous – and thought he had won a penalty in stoppage time, only for VAR to say Kambwala’s mistake was outside the penalty area.

Luis Sinisterra – 6.5

So close to finding the far corner after attacking Dalot, struggling with him in that one-on-one. Unfortunately, that injury meant he had to be replaced before half-time.

Justin Kluivert – 7

United practically rolled out a welcome mat for him to make it 2-1 when he was left completely unmarked, and he would have scored a second had it not been for Onana.

Dango Ouattara – 6.5

Clung on to a lovely pass from Solanke, but left with his head in his hands when he failed to find the far corner. Fits in well with his striker as United are tested.

Dominic Solanke – 7.5

Such a handful that it would be surprising if Bournemouth aren’t tested on him this summer, with a fine finish to open the scoring after Kambwala’s slip.

Bournemouth played as if they believed they could cause United problems, and they did, even when injury occurred.

André Onana – 5.5

“Dodgy keeper,” came the old-fashioned chant from the Bournemouth fans behind him. Could he have done better for both goals he got here? I suspect so.

Diogo Dalot – 5

United’s disastrous defense left Kluivert alone and the score became 2-1 to Bournemouth. You could have parked a few buses in the space between Dalot and Kambwala.

Willy Kambwala – 6

He was clearly upset at losing his footing as Solanke made it 1-0, but played a big role in United’s build-up to level the score at 1-1 with a robust display of winning possession. Glad the VAR came to his rescue in injury time.

Harry Maguire – 5.5

Had to intervene to prevent Solanke from scoring early on, but overall United’s defense lacked organisation. As a senior defender, he had to show some leadership.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 5.5

Tried to get forward down the left flank – even accompanied by the odd step-over – but overall not Wan-Bissaka’s most memorable performance.

Casemiro – 5

Time has caught up with the 32-year-old Brazilian and once again this was not the performance that gave the impression that he is a player United can count on.

Kobbie Mainoo – 6

A hint of a dive into the box in the twelfth minute – behave yourself, Kobbie – before his shot led to United’s penalty, making it 2-2 when the shot found Smith’s arm.

Alejandro Garnacho – 4

A poor touch that ultimately led to United losing possession before Solanke’s opener, and being hooked at half-time after a sub-par 45 minutes on the right.

Bruno Fernandes – 7

Made no mistake after the lucky way the ball stayed upright to put it 1-1 past Neto, and happily accepted the chance to make it 2-2 from the penalty spot.

Marcus Rashford – 5

Should have scored, but shot his shot into the side netting. Rashford looked largely lost on the left wing and was one of those who lacked the required intensity.

Rasmus Hojlund – 5

You could say he was feasting on leftovers, but this was a sleepy performance from Hojlund as he barely got involved in the few chances that were created.
