Bobby Brazier ‘renews EastEnders contract to continue as Freddie Slater’ after sparking fears he was to leave the BBC soap after post Strictly offers

Bobby Brazier has reportedly extended his EastEnders contract after fears he would quit the soap.

The model and actor, 20, are said to have been inundated with offers since taking part in Strictly Come Dancing last year.

But after considering leaving the BBC series, he has decided to continue his role as Freddie Slater.

A source told the Mirror: ‘Bobby is considered one of the Square’s brightest young stars, and losing him would have been a huge blow to the show.

‘For his part, he enjoys playing Freddie, but he was in such high demand after Strictly and he felt he had to carefully consider all the offers open to him.

‘Fortunately he has now decided to extend his contract and everyone is enthusiastic.

‘He has other projects he is in talks for, but they will run alongside his work on the show – much like Molly Rainford’s single last year or Tameka Empson’s recent play.’

A BBC spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘We never comment on artist contracts.’

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Bobby for comment.

Bobby returned to filming for EastEnders in February this year after finishing second in 2023’s Strictly Come Dancing.

He has played Freddie since 2022, but following his split from his Strictly co-star Ellie Leach he is now said to be hoping he can emulate the success of global pop icon Harry Styles.

A source said this last month OK! magazine on Bobby and Ellie’s split: ‘Love blossomed between them when they met up close during the tour, but once it was over they both spent much less time together.

‘Bobby’s great love is singing, he wants to be a star singer on a global level, and some big music leaders think he could do that.

‘He wants to be the next Harry Styles, who is really taken seriously as a real artist. Now that the world is his oyster, he continues to act, but singing is really his passion.’

Last month it was revealed that former Coronation Street actress Elie, 23, parted ways with the late Jade Goody’s son and her former partner Jeff Brazier as their busy lives headed in different directions, just weeks after news of their romance broke came forward.

Ellie shared an update on Instagram on Saturday, sticking her tongue out for a fun selfie and writing: ‘Hair is a bit crazy today.’

Bobby and Ellie first sparked dating rumors on Strictly Come Dancing in December and grew closer during the BBC show’s tour in January to February.

But while Bobby returns to his character Freddie Slater in the BBC soap and is reportedly exploring a potential career in Hollywood, Ellie is currently touring British theaters in the Cluedo stage production.

A TV insider said this The sun: ‘Love blossomed between them when they were close to each other during the tour, but once it was over, they both spent much less time together.

‘That gave them space to think about the future, which will probably take them in a completely different direction over the next two years.

“So they decided it was best to quit while they were still ahead and still friends because they both really cherish the friendship they have.”
