Keeping it in the family: Husband-and-wife James and Michelle Laithwaite
City veteran Andy Bell and his colleague Fergus Lyons have ploughed £1.2m into sports nutrition start-up Fuel Hub.
Bell, 56, who founded investment firm AJ Bell in 1995, and Lyons, 61, will take a 50 per cent stake in the company.
Founded by husband-and-wife James and Michelle Laithwaite, the firm prepares and delivers nutritional chef-made meals to sports organisations and elite athletes across the UK.
It also offers meal kits for households, which can be prepared in under three minutes.
The Laithwaites, who will retain the other 50 per cent of the business, plan to use the investment to become the ‘go-to nutrition partner of sports teams and athletes’.
They already work with Team GB’s Olympians, rugby league team Warrington Wolves, and football clubs Fulham, Blackpool and Derby County.
Michelle Laithwaite said: ‘We’re looking forward to building on the impressive growth we have achieved since we started.’
