A woman has been jailed for seven years after admitting cutting off her lover’s penis by tricking him into thinking she was going to perform a sex act on him.

The 38-year-old was jailed after striking a last-minute deal with prosecutors at the start of her trial at a Barcelona court yesterday.

She convinced her partner, who is also her boss, to cover his eyes with a napkin after promising to give him oral sex, claiming she didn’t want him to look because she was ashamed of it.

She then took out a knife she had hidden in her pocket and cut off his manhood.

In addition to being in a relationship with the man she mutilated, he was also her boss at a bar in Sant Andreu de la Barca, near Barcelona. They had been seeing each other for four years.

The convicted woman, known only as Tanya, has also been ordered to pay €250,000 in damages to her former boss and partner.

She initially indicated she was pleading not guilty at the start of her trial at the Audiencia provincial court in Barcelona, ​​before changing her mind and admitting her guilt after a brief conversation with her lawyer.

The penis cutting incident occurred on May 31, 2021.

The victim ran to a nearby police station to raise the alarm and was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery to reattach his manhood, which was unsuccessful.

The woman who was subsequently arrested initially claimed self-defense, prompting reports at the time that her boss could be detained.

Local police chief Oscar Carreras said immediately after the incident, when the investigation was still in its “early stages”: “The investigation is aimed at discovering what happened in the bar.”

The court heard the knife-wielding victim now lives with a relative and works part-time in a supermarket, living on a fraction of the amount he previously earned as the owner of two bars.
