“I’m afraid to say what I’m going to say,” she began, pausing to talk about donuts, which she says are her comfort food.
She continued, “I have to have surgery. 16 years ago I lost a lot of weight and had a breast lift and a breast enlargement and now the implants have ruptured.’
She says she debated sharing the news with people, but decided it was such a common thing to happen to women that she felt compelled to do so.
“I have to have them taken out and face this reconstruction, which is really scary… I wasn’t sure if I would share it, but I am sharing it… it’s important.”
The singer reveals that she may not have made the same decision today.
“Today I wouldn’t have put them in. I am different now; I have other priorities. This is scary, and I’m going to face this and get over it,” she shared.
And the singer revealed her mother is helping her through it.
“My mother said to me, ‘Carnie, this is going to be a little hurdle, a little bump, and soon it will all be a thing of the past.’
In 2012, she turned to surgery again — this time lap band surgery — after regaining most of the weight.
