Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the problem of people taking off their shoes on planes in a recent podcast interview, joking that she should create a “Department of Grievances” within the federal government to address the issue.
The vice president was asked about the issue during an appearance on the “I’ve Had It” podcast, in a teaser for the interview shared on social media.
‘Oh God, I’ve had it. Totally,” she said, bursting into laughter. “It’s horrible, and then when they take off their shoes and cross their legs so their foot is just dangling in front of you, it’s just… especially if they don’t have socks!”

As the second-highest-ranking U.S. government official, Harris vowed to investigate the issue.
‘We’re going to investigate that. We need a complaints department,” she said. “We have a lot of federal agencies, but not that one.”
The issue has always been a point of contention, but more and more airline passengers are complaining about it on social media and even shaming people for taking off their shoes on planes.
