Jelly Roll’s private plane had to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles on Friday while the singer was en route to Austin, Texas for the CMT 2024 Awards show
Jelly Roll told E!News on the red carpet: ‘What happened was the screen went blank. The pilot said, “I won’t even risk this.” He had to fly the plane back manually. He had to fly like it was the sixties again. He was shocked.’
‘It was incredible. We are blessed.”
The singer, who recently underwent transformative dental work, was on his way from Los Angeles for Sunday’s awards ceremony when his private plane was forced to turn around.

On TikTok, she shared a video of the captain explaining the situation to them with the caption: “Our plane we were on just stopped in mid-air and turned around for an emergency landing.”
While waiting for the all clear in the airport lounge, the YouTube star asked her husband, “Hey dad, what’s going on?”
The native Tennessean responded, “Oh! The plane just turned around. They turned the plane around. They said it was a computer problem.’
“And they want us to get back on it,” she said, before Jelly Roll joked: “At least it wasn’t the brakes.”
No word on how long it took to get the plane into the air, but the influencer shared a video of the second attempt as they taxied down the runway.
“Alright LA, let’s try this again, Austin, here we come!” she wrote about the video.
Lainey Wilson, Kelsea Ballerini, Megan Moroney, Jelly Roll and Cody Johnson top the list with three nominations each.
Trisha Yearwood will receive the first-ever June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award.
This year’s edition will once again be hosted by country icon Kelsea Ballerini, who has hosted the last three ceremonies. However, this year marks the first time she will carry the honor alone.
Ballerini, who normally hosts Kane Brown, shared People: ‘It’s definitely new territory for me.’
“But it’s my fourth year as host, so I feel like I’ve learned a lot. And the good thing about CMT is that there is such a light energy, so there is no pressure I feel to be perfect.
“I just want to be fun, honor the night and help people have a good time.”
In addition to hosting, Kelsea has been named as one of the evening’s performers. Jason Aldean, Dasha, Trisha Yearwood, Sam Hunt and more will also take the stage.
