The defensive end of star JJ Watt has revealed he will play for the Arizona Cardinals this afternoon, despite his heart being “rocked back into rhythm” just three days ago.

The 33-year-old broke the news on Twitter just hours before taking the field against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, claiming he only shared it because it was leaked to the media.

In a letter to his 5.6 million followers, he said: “I was just told that someone has leaked personal information about me and it is being reported today.

‘I went to A-Fib [Atrial fibrillation] on Wednesday, Thursday had my heart back in rhythm and I’m playing today. That is it.’

Watt is currently in his second season with the Cardinals and appears to have been deemed fit by medics to play in North Carolina for the Week 4 matchup.

The former Houston Texans star missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to what the Cardinals listed as “calf/illness” on their injury report.

According to the CDC, atrial fibrillation — commonly referred to as “A-Fib” or AF — is “when the heart beats too slowly, too fast, or in an irregular way.”
