Celebrities have flooded social media to share their shock following a magnitude 4.8 earthquake near New York City.

The Big Apple, along with New Jersey and Philadelphia, was rocked by tremors on Friday, with people reporting “shaking buildings.”

New York State Governor Kathy Hochul said her team “we are assessing the impact and any damage that may have occurred, and we will keep the public informed throughout the day.”

Dozens of famous faces – including Jessica Chastain and Barbara Corcoran – rushed to respond to the phenomenon.

She shared on Instagram a video of herself standing in a bathtub with a coffee cup in hand as she comically swayed back and forth.

The overlay text read “everyone in NYC now” before she added a backing track of Carole King’s I Feel The Earth Move.

Elsewhere, former CNN anchor Don Lemon, who is set to marry his longtime partner Tim Malone this weekend in Manhattan, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to write: ‘Just had an earthquake in New York. Did you feel it?’

This was echoed by actress Busy Phillips, who also noted the shock, adding: ‘Just like boys. I think there was an earthquake in New York.”

Oscar winner Jessica Chastain said: ‘Did we just have an earthquake?! NYC.”

She then shared a later tweet that read, “This is really crazy. I hope everyone is doing well and that our buildings are not damaged.’

Media personality Megyn Kelly posted that she felt the quake in Connecticut and asked: ‘Did we just have an earthquake? (In CT).”

Experts had previously warned that NYC was already long overdue for an earthquake.
