You then see the car slowly backing out of the restaurant, known for serving kachori, a fried snack popular in India.
As he makes his way out, a concerned diner can be seen urging the driver, who has since been identified as 36-year-old lawyer Parag Maini, to stop in case people get trapped under the car.
After making sure there is no one under the car, the driver slowly drives out of the store, leaving a trail of destruction behind.
Diners were seen hugging each other and making sure everyone was safe. One man had to be carried by two others after being the victim of the collision.
Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Manoj Meena told local media that police found the Mercedes in a damaged condition. It was also reported that Maini’s wife was also in the car at the time of the crash.
He added that Maini, who reportedly lives in nearby Noida, has been charged with careless driving and negligently endangering human life and his car has been seized.
Preliminary investigation revealed that he was not under the influence of alcohol, although his blood sample was retained for ‘analysis’.
