On Sunday, Edey scored 40 points in Purdue’s 72-66 win over Tennessee in the Elite Eight round
In the viral footage, Edey can be seen unlocking a door to a private room as a group of girls hang out nearby, while the college basketball star is filmed at the party.
He then entered the room with the girl he was with after coming through the door, while two other girls nearby dropped their jaws.
But most people on X who responded to the clip came to Edey’s defense. Instead, they condemned the unknown person who filmed the Canadian basketball star at the university party.
“Let the Kid live his life,” one user said. ‘He’s a student too!! Just because he is a beast (sic) on the field, it seems he is off the field too!!! I would like to share a drink with Edey!!!’
“Breaking: Edey is a college student,” someone else shared, while another person pointed out, “If she’s 18, who cares?”
In response to Tolan’s post, another user joked, “Wait until you discover NBA players!”
On Sunday, Edey dominated in Purdue’s 72-66 win over Tennessee with a career-high 40 points and 16 rebounds while helping the Boilermakers advance to the Final Four for the first time in 44 years.
Edey shot 13-for-21 from the field and 14-for-22 from the foul line to ensure top-seeded Purdue (33-4) would make its first Final Four appearance since 1980.
He is now averaging 30.0 points, 16.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.8 blocks per game in the NCAA men’s tournament.
Edey, who is expected to be a high lottery pick if he declares for the NBA Draft after this season, became the first player to record at least 30 points and 15 rebounds in multiple games in a single NCAA Tournament since 1977.
