Denise Drysdale reveals the one thing she gave up before appearing on I’m A Celebrity: ‘They don’t want a dead 75-year-old in the jungle’
Denise Drysdale has revealed she has given up alcohol.
The 75-year-old veteran entertainer, revealed to The Daily Telegraph that she has given up booze in preparation for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia.
‘When I say I’ve given up, I’ve had a few drinks since I found out I was going, but I’ve really slowed down. I didn’t want to meet the damn heebie-jeebies in the jungle,” she told the publication.
‘I’ve been very good. “I haven’t been running or anything, I just stopped drinking, that’s my preparation,” she said.
The mother of two added that she is not afraid to take on the different challenges that contestants face.

“I don’t think they want a dead 75-year-old in the jungle, so I don’t think they’ll do anything to me that will hurt me.”
Speaking to New Idea, she added: “I told them that if you put me with the snakes, you might as well get a coffin and at the same time put my body right in there among the snakes.”
The TV star also revealed that she was asked to appear in the South African jungle five times before agreeing to the current season.
Denise, who presented daytime panel show Studio 10 from 2016 to 2020, confirmed she was heading into the jungle via the show’s Instagram account.
‘I’ve been very good. “I haven’t been running or anything, I just stopped drinking, that’s my preparation,” she said
‘Yes, it’s official. I’m going into the jungle. What the hell have I done?’ she said in the video posted Sunday night.
Denise said she was not looking forward to the camp’s toilet and sleeping facilities.
‘I’m an only child. And 11 other people, it’s like a party. And I don’t sleep well anyway, so that will be interesting,” she said.
The TV star also worried that the food situation in the camp might not be ideal.
The mother of two added that she is not afraid to take on the different challenges that contestants face
‘Beans and rice, without salt, without lemon. But it will have to do. And if I can’t do it for the three weeks we’re there, I’m not worth my salt.”
“Hoping it to be an absolute ball, I’m sure it will be. Will be interesting!’ she concluded, looking forward to her time on the show.
Denise’s recent lifestyle choices could serve her well in the jungle.
The veteran entertainer has even simplified her life as she has grown older and led a semi-nomadic lifestyle.
