The glamor model turned Heart FM radio presenter, 44, started her time in front of the camera 28 years ago, and it even included a stint in Hollywood.

However, Kelly explained the various reasons for her decision to “leave acting,” as she honestly confessed, “I was a terrible actress.”

The star also revealed that wanting to sleep in her own bed and being able to care for her pet were key factors.

Kelly added that now that she’s married to model Jeremy Paris, she doesn’t feel like he would be comfortable with her pretending to be someone else’s lover, like actor Ryan Reynolds.

Kelly told me The Daily Star: ‘I’m going to quit acting. I don’t like being away from home for too long.’

‘I like to sleep in my own bed and I have my dog to take care of. I was a terrible actress. I find it quite tiring.’

‘I’m such a big personality, so I always find it a struggle to be someone else. They told me I was married to someone and after two weeks I thought I was married to them. It was a terrible situation.’

“I can’t imagine turning to Jeremy and saying, ‘I’m off for six weeks and I’m going to pretend I’m Ryan Reynolds’ lover, is that okay?’ I don’t think that would bode well. I don’t think that would bother my husband.’

Kelly began her acting career in 1996, at the age of seventeen, when she appeared as a schoolgirl in the second series of the BBC comedy show Fist of Fun.

In 2000, the actress made her big screen debut with a small role in the British horror film Sorted. A year later she appeared in the slasher film Ripper.

In 2001, Kelly returned to television work, appearing in four episodes of Smallville.

In 2003, she had a brief role as Seth Green’s girlfriend in The Italian Job, which starred her then-boyfriend Jason Statham.

She then landed her first leading role in the British indie film School For Seduction, playing an Italian seductress.

In 2005, she starred in the ill-fated erotic desert island thriller Three, where she met her ex-fiancé Billy Zane. Despite a West End premiere, the film was panned by critics and went straight to DVD in America.

The couple teamed up again for a new water-themed film, Fishtails, a romance in the same vein as Splash, in which Kelly played a mermaid.

They took the film to Cannes, but it too failed to impress and saw only a limited release in UK cinemas and went straight to DVD in the US.

In 2006, Kelly starred in an Agatha Christie’s Marple drama on ITV and in 2009 she appeared as herself in the second series of ITV’s Moving Wallpaper.

In 2010, Kelly starred in the horror film Piranha 3D, which grossed an admirable $83 million worldwide.

That same year, the actress was lined up for the lead role in Hotel Caledonia, about backpackers working in a remote Scottish hotel.

However, the film was canned after the film’s biggest names – Gillian Anderson and Jaime Pressley – withdrew.

In 2012, Kelly played herself in Keith Lemon: The Film, which grossed £4 million at the UK box office despite being universally panned.

In May 2015, Kelly’s NBC American sitcom – One Big Happy – was canceled after just six episodes due to dismal ratings.

“The most incredible, creatively challenging, and most rewarding job I’ve ever had,” she wrote in a social media post at the time, saying goodbye to the short-lived series.

One Big Happy – which also starred Elisha Cuthbert – revolved around the life of a gay woman who was pregnant with her best friend’s baby.

In late 2015, Kelly appeared in the MTV comedy-drama film Taking Stock, playing the main character Kate.

The Bonnie and Clyde-inspired film tells the story of recently fired store assistant Kate, who devises a plan to rob the store, forcing her to quit her job.

In 2019, Kelly made it to radio when she joined Heart FM as co-host with JK (Jason King).
