The award-winning actress used ‘beaches’ instead of ‘b*****s’ in a reference to her 1988 film Beaches.

After the light-hearted and playful exchange, Bette returned to X on Sunday to share a humorous Easter post, referencing the film for the second time.

She shared a still from the feature film in which she was dressed in a bunny costume.

To include her followers, she wrote: ‘Happy Easter! Listen, how nice that you want to leave out a few carrots for the Easter Bunny. But I heard she prefers gin.”

Last year, in an interview on the Just for the variety podcast, Midler reflected on her decades-long career and revealed a role she wishes she hadn’t turned down.

“I’ve been an old lady, a young lady, a witch, a mermaid, a showgirl, a stripper, a bad lounge singer. I’ve been through the entire spectrum. And I have to say, it was fantastic,” she began.

She went on to say that she has never played a nun when she revealed that she had been offered a role in 1992’s Sister Act.

‘Can you believe it? How crazy is that? How crazy is that? Jeffrey Katzenberg called me every day: “Please, please.” I stuck to my guns because I was really scared of the costume. Is not that great? I can wear anything except a nun’s habit?” she explained.

The role ultimately went to Whoopi Goldberg, 68.

“Whoopi carried him all the way to the bank,” Midler added. “So God bless her. And she was perfect for it.”

And there’s one more opportunity she turned down that’s still on her mind: a role in Misery.

‘I just couldn’t do it. It was too violent,” she said. ‘The character was so not funny, so without any kind of redemption. She cut off his foot. Come on. Who does that?’
