Simone discussed how “feeling” her grief helped her find the “courage” to move on, as she shared how she and her children have learned to live with their grief.
She said: “Death happens to all of us, it makes you even more grateful if you have experienced it, to live for yourself and for the people you love, that is what we are trying to carry with us after Shane’s passing.
‘If I hadn’t gone through (what I have), I wouldn’t have had the life lessons, and I might not have been as strong as I am today, it taught me to stand in my own strength and have the courage To keep moving forward, you have to feel it to heal it.’
Simone and Shane, who first met in 1992 at an event in Melbourne, were married for ten years before splitting in a highly publicized divorce in 2005.

Elsewhere in the interview, Simone also candidly discussed their difficult divorce and how she felt like she had failed her marriage and her three children at the time.
Looking back on the difficult time, Simone said she masked how she felt to protect her children – who were aged eight, six and four at the time.
She admitted that she felt like she let her family down after the divorce, but said she and Shane remained focused on successful co-parenting to give their children stability.
Simone’s comments come as she prepares to release her memoir and wellness book Growing With Grace in just days on April 2.
