Sophie Wessex and daughter Lady Louise are Queens of the royal hand-me-down – as these stylish pictures prove
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
And when it comes to her sense of style, the Duchess of Edinburgh certainly has a huge admirer in her daughter, Lady Louise.
It seems Louise, 20, is more than happy to raid her mum’s rather impressive wardrobe and has recently been photographed giving some old hits new life.

Sophie Wessex and Lady Louise Spencer wear the same Mary Katrantzou dress
Sophie Wessex and her daughter, Lady Louise Spencer, have both worn the Mary Katrantzou ‘Lamur’ dress.
This elaborate design featured a lace bodice, accented by turquoise embroidery, and a mid-length satin skirt.
While attending the glamorous Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2015, Sophie expertly styled her dress with classic pumps and a matching black bag.
Meanwhile, Louise paired it with nude heels and delicate earrings for a pre-coronation dinner in 2023.
Paving a path
Last year, the royal duo presented a camel-colored Italian wool blazer from ME+EM.
The military-inspired design is made from a recycled wool blend and features a fitted silhouette and antique gold-tone buttons.
It tied in well with Sophie’s visit to HMS Daring at His Majesty’s Naval Base and Louise’s appearance at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Get changed, hand me over
Lady Louise wore her mother’s Peter Pilot dress seven years after Sophie.
The unique handkerchief dress featured a floral print, blending violet and teal tones, making a striking sartorial statement.
However, Louise opted for white sneakers instead of her mother’s wedges, creating a more modern aesthetic.

It’s a wrap
Sophie had already wrapped herself in her navy blue Roland Mouret coat five times before Louise decided to follow suit.
The ‘Millington’ double wool crepe coat, a fresh twist on the classic trench coat, featured flared sleeves, striking lapels and a knee-length cut.
The duo opted for different accessories:
Sophie opted for a Jane Taylor London straw hat and Manolo Blahnik satin pumps, while Louise opted for a Jane Taylor London trilby and nude suede heels.

A headstart
Sophie and Louise seemed to be able to wear this eccentric Philip Treacy hat effortlessly, a feat that few others could achieve.
Sophie wore the headpiece to Trooping the Color 2009, a moment that marked her daughter’s inaugural appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace
So it might have had special significance when Louise wore the same hat to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

Simply Fedorable…
Louise also borrowed her mother’s Hayfield England fedora.
At the Royal Windsor Horse Show in 2022 and 2023, the young royal wore her mother’s distinctive hat on both occasions.
Sophie previously showed the piece at the equestrian competition in 2021.
This timeless design is made from wool felt and is enhanced by colorful feathers, attached to a polished, hand-crafted pattern.

Mini dress for mini-me
The Alia ‘Perfume’ dress was a staple in Sophie Wessex’s wardrobe until Louise claimed it.
Both royals have donned the mini dress for notable events, including Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.
With its crew neck and fit-and-flare silhouette, the monochrome design paired perfectly with both Sophie’s black cropped jacket and Louise’s white suede bolero.

Fit and flare
Louise borrowed Sophie’s Stella McCartney coat six years after the Duchess debuted it
Stella McCartney’s ‘Vivienne’ coat was destined to stand the test of time.
The navy blue wool design was first worn by Sophie in 2017 and later by Louise in 2023 and included classic notch lapels and a hidden button at the front.
The elegant fit-and-flare silhouette reaches the shin and offers the royals complete versatility.
