Messy huts

The first annoyance Lucy mentioned stemmed from a conversation she had with the housekeeping staff and flight attendants – it was a response she received ‘overwhelmingly’.

She explained: ‘They hate it when the huts are left messy because their job is to clean and not tidy up.

‘It’s fine if there’s a few t-shirts left on the bed or there’s some mess and stuff, but there are some cabins you go into and it’s crazy to think they’re only on board for five days, because the amount of s*** that is everywhere.

“It’s like, how are we supposed to successfully clean the cabin if there’s stuff everywhere? They said, ‘We have to spend time moving the stuff.’

To give an example, she added, “Let’s say there’s a pile of clothes on the bed, then they say, ‘we can’t just move the pile of clothes on the floor, we have to fold the clothes.’

“That’s not their job, but it wouldn’t look good if they just shoved the pile of clothes on the floor.”

Lucy advised holidaymakers to ‘take care when you are on a cruise ship and staying in your cabin. The housekeeper’s job is to clean and disinfect your cabin, it is not to clean up your mess, so just keep that in mind’.

Passengers flirt with crew members

She then warns passengers that flirting with crew members may not have the effect they think it will.

She recalled, “When passengers flirt with you and think they have a chance with you just because you’re a crew member.

“This one, I know you all think this one came from a woman, but this one came from two guys.

“It was funny because I asked them what they hate when passengers do that, and they were both big, stocky guys. They were like ‘sexual harassment’.

‘Drunk women are very persistent, they are very sensitive and actually want to get into our pants. So he just said that it’s very annoying when you’re just trying to do your job and that of course you should be friendly.’

The YouTuber and crew member continued, “But it’s hard when they take it a different way and think they have a chance with you just because you’re a sexy crew member and it’s kind of forbidden, so it’s exciting.

“Especially if it’s a large group of ladies who have come on a cruise, they’re all a little drunk, they all think it’s hilarious to flirt with the sexy bartender or the sexy waiter, but keep in mind that he might do. doesn’t want that attention.’

No manners

Lucy adds that this next point “obviously goes without saying.”

She tells her followers: ‘Some crew members are often treated as if they are not human.

“It doesn’t take anything to just say, ‘Hello, how are you?’ Can you please help me with this?’

“It doesn’t take anything, but so often a passenger comes into my shop or goes to a bar or is walking around the ship somewhere and just walks in, sees a crew member and says, ‘I need this.’

“It’s just rude and I think the reason it annoys me so much and annoys the crew members so much is because it doesn’t take anything to just say ‘please’ or ‘thank you.’

She continued: ‘Sometimes when I’m standing outside my shop, someone will just walk past me and say, ‘Toilet?’ They’re asking for the bathroom, but adding a few more words to your sentence makes all the difference.

“Like, ‘I’m sorry, can you just tell me where the bathroom is?’ or ‘Can you please show me to the toilet?’

‘There’s no need because it’s so easy to be polite, especially when you’re on holiday. Who is unhappy on holiday?’

To boast

Finally, the cruise expert hates passengers who brag, especially those who don’t have as much money as they do.

She revealed: “People love to brag and the one thing I would say about bragging is know your audience.

‘I also find it really creepy when you see a really rich passenger bragging about his new £50,000 car or watch or something.

“The person they’re bragging to is from an impoverished country or could only dream of getting near that kind of thing, let alone owning it themselves.”

She concluded: “Be mindful of who you’re bragging to – brag to people who are on the same level as you.

“Don’t brag about your new Mercedez-Benz to a crew member who works every hour God sends you so they can send home enough money to support their five family members.”
