Getafe boss reveals their chances of keeping Man United outcast Mason Greenwood at the end of the season… as the Spaniards are pleased with the forward’s performances AND his behaviour

Getafe manager Jose Bordalas has said that Manchester United will have the final say on Mason Greenwood’s future.

Bordalas said he was very pleased with Greenwood’s performance, with the United loanee scoring eight goals in 27 appearances for the Spanish team this season.

Greenwood was suspended by United in January 2022 after being charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges in February last year and announced the case had been dropped.

Greenwood, who denied all allegations, was controversially loaned out to Getafe in September after his parent club indicated he would ‘continue his career away from Old Trafford’.

Getafe is open to a transfer or another loan,

But Bordalas admitted the final decision on the striker’s future rests with his parent club.

“In the end it is his club that decides and also the boy’s intentions regarding his future,” he said.

“But I can say that we are happy with his behavior and his performance.”

Reports suggest United want £40million for the striker, despite the fact he only has one year left on his contract with the Red Devils at the end of this season.

European heavyweights such as Barcelona and Juventus have shown interest in acquiring Greenwood.

Towards the end of December, reports suggested that the LaLiga giants were considering a move for United’s exile.

Regarding matters on the pitch, United have strongly suggested that Greenwood would never play for them again.

However, speaking for the first time since his 25 percent stake in Manchester United was confirmed, Ratcliffe suggested in February that position could change.

‘I can talk about the principle. I’m not going to talk about Mason. I am familiar with it. The principle is the most important. We will have other problems in the future.

‘You are dealing with young people who have not always been raised in the best circumstances, who have a lot of money and do not always receive the guidance they should have.

‘When we have such problems, we need to understand that there are real consequences and not the hype. Then we have to make a fair decision in the light of the club’s values.

“That’s what we have to do and that’s how we’re going to deal with it.”

Ratcliffe also told the BBC: ‘We have to look at the facts, judge fairly and consider what the club’s values ​​are.

‘Then we will come out with a decision. It is not appropriate for me to comment on Mason Greenwood.”

United acted quickly to suspend Greenwood on the day he was arrested in January 2022, just hours after deeply disturbing images and audio were posted online.
