To combine items in Dragon’s Dogma 2, open it articles menu, which shows you an overview of every item that every character in your party is holding, including your character, your main pawn, and any pawns you’ve hired.
Press “X” (Xbox) or Square (PS5) and you’ll be presented with two menus. The first is more experimental (literally called ‘Experiment’), allowing you to combine any items you already have in your inventory without necessarily knowing the predetermined outcome of the combination.

You can also stop by an inn or the storage chest of any house you own to combine items. Choose the ‘Combine’ dialogue option when talking to an innkeeper, or interact with the chest in your house to combine items.
The advantage of storing items is that it is essentially a refrigerator, which keeps them in pristine condition. Suppose you have apples or grapes in your inventory; they will rot after a few days in the game, just like any meat or fish you buy. But keeping them in an inn or in your home will keep them from rotting so you can use them to make recipes whenever you want.
