A bride is being criticized for asking her bridesmaids to pay $595 for an ‘unflattering’ black dress.

One bridesmaid was in trouble because she didn’t have the money to pay for the dress and was hoping to buy a cheaper ‘dupe’.
At first glance, the long dress with double satin thong looks quite mediocre and the money spent could be used to buy something more stylish.
On Reddit, the bridesmaid wrote: ‘I was asked to be a bridesmaid this summer and we were assigned a designer GANNI dress with a hefty price tag. Please help me find something similar and more affordable.’

Redditors offered their advice on the situation, with many urging the woman to talk to the bride before committing.
“You need to talk to the bride. That’s an insane price tag that not everyone can afford,” one person commented.
‘If you can’t afford it, you should talk to the bride about it. Unless you can find the exact dress second-hand somewhere, chances are she can tell you bought a different dress, and if you haven’t talked to her about that beforehand, chances are she’ll get mad,” said another. .
A third added: ‘Don’t try to wear a different dress without saying something when asked to wear something specific. She will notice, it will come across as rude or clingy.
‘If you can’t rent it or buy it second hand, let the bride know it’s out of your budget and see what she says.
