Mark Wahlberg, 52, reveals he’s scaled back his gruelling regime that featured a 2:30am wake-up, two workouts and SEVEN meals a day – after it left him with ‘the worst eating habits’
In 2018, he revealed that his grueling daily schedule included waking up at 2:30 a.m. and sessions in a “cyro room.”
But now Mark Wahlberg has backtracked on the punishing routine that stunned fans, saying it left him with ‘the worst eating habits’.
After waking up early, the actor, 52, ate breakfast at 3.15am, followed by a 95-minute workout, another meal, shower, snack, golf and ‘cryo-chamber recovery’ – all before 10.30am.
Six years later, Wahlberg has spoken out against the routine, which he did to prepare for physical roles, admitting it was “so extreme.”
He said he wished he had accomplished this sooner because he would have “another fifteen years to make more physical films.”
Mark Wahlberg has revisited the punishing routine that stunned fans, saying it left him with ‘the worst eating habits’
In 2018, Wahlberg shared his old routine on his Instagram and the extremity of it sent fans into a frenzy, which included seven meals, a 2:30 a.m. wake-up and two workouts a day
Now, instead of eating four full meals at 3:15 a.m., 5:30 a.m., 8:00 a.m. and then 10:30 a.m., the Pain and Gain star has ditched the early morning and enjoys just one breakfast at a more human hour.
At 8 a.m. he eats two boiled eggs, three scrambled eggs, a pork chop with salt and pepper, wild smoked salmon, Greek yogurt, berries and a green juice with Moringa – an anti-inflammatory plant.
At 11 a.m. he has chicken breasts, chicken thighs, a bowl of fruit, broccoli, a handful of almonds and another handful of pistachios.
At 2 p.m. he has salmon sashimi, a crab salad with cucumbers and a few more pieces of chicken fillet.
In the evening he enjoys a steak with sea bass or halibut and vegetables.
Where he once ate seven meals a day, Wahlberg has now cut that down to four, but his daily menu still costs more than $150 a day and was met with outrage from fans on TikTok.
One person wrote: ‘Seriously, I don’t care how much money you have… That’s an absurd amount of food.’
While another wrote: ‘That’s my weekly shop there, I can’t even afford his breakfast.’
After waking up early, the actor ate breakfast at 3:15 am, followed by a 95-minute workout, another meal, shower, snack, golf and ‘cryo-chamber recovery’ – all before 10:30 am.

He also revealed that he has ditched the intense workout routine that saw him working out twice a day; first a 95 minute session from 3.40am to 5.15am and the second at 4pm.
Now he trains five days a week, but says he tries to focus on rest and recovery and eats a lot less than he does, because Wahlberg told Men’s Weekly, “Everything for me has been so extreme.”

On a normal day, the actor would get up at 2:30 a.m. and pray for half an hour before having a breakfast of steel oats, blueberries and peanut butter at 3:15 a.m.
He did a 95-minute workout before having a protein shake, three turkey burgers and five pieces of sweet potato at 5:30 am.
This was followed by a shower, a snack of 10 turkey meatballs, gold and ‘cryo-chamber recovery’ before 10.30am, when he ate a grilled chicken salad with two hard-boiled eggs, olives, avocado, cucumber, tomato and lettuce. .
He said, ‘Then I’ll have a New York steak with green peppers at 1 o’clock. At 3:30 PM I have grilled chicken with bok choy. At 5:30/6 p.m. I eat a nice piece of halibut or cod or sea bass, with some vegetables, maybe some fried potatoes and bok choy. And I have a lot of Aquahydrate during the day. That is it.’

At the time, he was preparing for his role as lead character James Silva in the upcoming film Mile 22 and undertook a 47-day challenge.
But as he prepared for his role in Arthur the King last year, he said: “Now that I’m focusing on rest and recovery, it doesn’t feel as labor-intensive as it used to.”
However, in 2022, Mark revealed he had made some adjustments to his schedule, sharing his new, ‘slimmed-down’ daily regime which saw him sleep in – until just 3.30am.
The A-lister added that he no longer eats oats, peanut butter, blueberries and eggs for breakfast, but instead fasts for 18 hours a day.
