Jealous bride ‘screams’ at guest for wearing ‘innocent’ outfit to her wedding: ‘You’re not the first prize’

A bride unleashed her fury on a wedding guest for wearing ‘gold’ to the ceremony – but thousands have called her ‘jealous’ and ‘insecure’ for the unhinged act.

Jennifer* recently attended her best friend Dan’s wedding and was scolded halfway through the reception by Lauren, the bride, for wearing an ‘inappropriate’ gold dress – with the bride’s mother going so far as to say it was ‘ was as bad as wearing a white dress’. ‘.

“I can’t believe you would wear gold to my wedding, you’re not first prize – you’re just rubbish,” the bride shouted in Jennifer’s face before demanding she leave the venue.

Shocked and confused, Jennifer immediately left with her husband, but she soon explained that Lauren had a long history of disliking her for no good reason.

“Dan and I have been friends since high school, always platonic with no romantic interests, but I’ve never gotten to spend time alone with Dan since he started dating Lauren three years ago,” she wrote on Reddit.

‘Lauren finds it suspicious that I want to hang out with him. I miss my friend. Even though I am happily married, she has always kept me at a distance. I always thought it was because she came from a very conservative family,” she continued.

Dan talked to his then girlfriend several times about relaxing, but Lauren always started complaining about his girlfriends.

Jennifer explained that Dan wanted her to be at the groom’s party, but it made Lauren cry – so Jennifer said she would only attend as a guest.

The theme of the wedding was ‘garden party in warm tones’, with the invitation encouraging earthy colours.

Jennifer came across a bronze satin midi dress from Australian brand Hello Molly – which she thought was ‘perfect’ for the occasion.

But she never expected Lauren to pull her aside and yell at her for her innocent choice.

“Lauren’s mom texted that I ruined the wedding and that I’m stupid for wearing a gold dress, which is just as bad as wearing a white one. “I really didn’t know this was a thing,” she said.

Many said the bride was ‘insane’ for behaving at her own wedding.

“I don’t think it would have mattered what color your dress was,” said one. “The woman hates you and would find something to yell at you for whatever you were wearing. If it hadn’t been the color of the dress, it would have been something else.’

“It smells like jealousy, and I feel so sorry for your friend. He just signed a lifetime with this person,” another added.

But some criticized Jennifer for her attention-seeking behavior.

‘The dress is very revealing – it doesn’t scream garden party dress. It’s very sneaky for a wedding,” one man wrote.

“You knew she was insecure about your friendship, platonic as it is. You knew she comes from a conservative background. And then you wore a low-cut, low-cut, silky satin slip. How could you not see that as a problem?’ someone asked.
