MAFS’ Timothy defends Jono after bombshell cheating allegations: ‘I read the messages’

Married At First Sight’s Timothy Smith has defended fellow groom Jono McCullough amid the cheating revelations from Monday night’s episode.

Jono’s wife Lauren was heartbroken when she found out her groom was secretly texting fellow bride Ellie Dix on Sunday night.

In Monday’s dramatic episode, Lauren, 32, demanded to see Jono’s iPhone – only to discover he had texted bride Ellie, 32, at least a hundred times after she left the experiment.

However, on Tuesday Bronte & Lakey for breakfastdefended fellow groom Timothy Jono, claiming that it is not unusual to keep in touch with other people in the experiment.

‘I’m going to give you a cup of tea. I read all those messages, he didn’t delete a single message,” Timothy began.

“By all accounts he called me, I called Ellie, I called Stephen, when people leave the show they want to keep in touch. You have experienced this trauma together, so a bond is created. So look, I’m going to defend it a little bit,” he said.

“But I’ll tell you what really set me on fire: Jacky Boy, the old boy, and Tori. “If I never have to see a nipple at a dinner party again, it will be too soon,” the 51-year-old entrepreneur joked.

On Monday’s episode, Jono finally admitted that he had secretly texted Ellie, but he tried to play down their relationship as platonic.

“It’s humiliating, there are a lot of messages, it’s constant. And there’s no, “How’s Lauren?” like not once was my name literally not mentioned. Why wouldn’t you mention your wife once out of a hundred messages?’

Jono told Lauren that he could no longer remember the contents of the messages he exchanged with Ellie, which upset Lauren even more.

“Maybe, I don’t know, I don’t remember the messages I sent over seven weeks ago,” Jono shot back.

Lauren then became enraged by the personal nature of the texts exchanged and questioned why Jono felt so comfortable discussing his upcoming 40th birthday with Ellie.

‘I would describe the relationship between Jono and Ellie as inappropriate. Did he tell her I was in the hospital for surgery? What a piece of shit,” an irate Lauren later said to the camera.

Unfortunately, their confrontation was not resolved, as Jono abruptly ended the discussion by leaving to buy food.

The saga played out on screen after Ny Breaking Australia reported that the experiment would be rocked by a scandal involving Ellie and Jono.

Ellie and Jono will reportedly announce their relationship during the show’s reunion.

Their clandestine affair is said to have started with the secret text messages exchanged during filming of the show after Ellie ended things with partner Ben.
