Mum slammed for ‘disgusting’ breakfast she feeds her five-year-old son – and she’s not the only one

Parents are furious after discovering the ‘disgusting’ breakfast a mother feeds her five-year-old son every day.

An American man recently shared an image of a large Hershey’s chocolate block on a paper plate.

The chocolate was placed in front of an iPad that played YouTube videos of the viral ‘Grimace challenge’.

“My cousin and her kid are staying with us for a while, this is what she usually gives her son for breakfast,” he captioned the post on Reddit.

He was especially baffled as he revealed that the house was stocked with various breakfast items including fruit, bread, eggs, bacon, sausage and more.

The man also revealed that his cousin allows her son to make a mess and not clean up after himself, causing him to live in a “consistently dirty house.”

“We don’t eat cereal, but I always buy regular breakfast items like bacon, eggs and sausage for my family,” he added.

I buy food for everyone and she gives him (a chocolate bar) instead of taking the time to cook a healthy breakfast for the boy.

“She refuses (my healthy groceries) and instead buys sweets, chips, soda and fast food.”

He said the mother also gives her son donuts, cookies or other sweet things when he doesn’t feel like eating a chocolate bar.

“It’s less work and she doesn’t have to cook,” he explained.

Nutritionists have previously revealed that a healthy breakfast improves a child’s concentration and academic performance.

Doctors claim that a healthy breakfast should include a good source of protein, such as eggs, smoked salmon, full-fat yogurt or nuts and seeds.

Many on Reddit immediately condemned the mother for her “bad parenting” and also allowed her child to watch silly YouTube videos during breakfast.

‘I’m a babysitter, I’m a little surprised at what the children I look after get for breakfast. Pure sugar and refined carbohydrates, always! And they always look at the iPad during breakfast!’ a woman shared.

“How much brain rot is on that iPad?” someone asked.

‘I don’t judge these things too harshly because I eat terribly. But a plain XL chocolate bar is pretty insane. Even sugary cereal has to be better than that,” wrote another.

‘Fruit is twice as filling, cheap and convenient. This is just stupidity,” said one mother.
