An NBA fan told Suns star Kevin Durant that Texas — his alma mater — lost the March Madness game in the first round while playing for Phoenix before the Longhorns were eliminated from this year’s NCAA Tournament.
While sitting near the courtside of the AT&T Center, home of the San Antonio Spurs, on Saturday night, the fan warned Durant midway through the NBA game, first letting him know, “Hey, Texas is losing a baby.” They’re halfway there.’
Responding to the update, the 35-year-old forward asked the fan “score?” before being told the Longhorns “are ten.”
’10?’ Durant then asked, double-checking that he was hearing the point difference correctly.
“Yes,” the fan confirms, as the Suns star remains silent as he tries to regain focus on the game he is currently playing.

Texas retired Durant’s No. 35 jersey despite losing in the second round of March Madness to USC in 2006-07 — the only college basketball season the NBA player has ever played in his career
Durant played just one season at Texas in 2006-07 before declaring for the NBA Draft.
With the Longhorns, the 6-foot-2, two-time NBA champion averaged 25.8 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
Texas finished the season with a 25-10 record overall and a 12-4 record in the Big 12 Conference. The team reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament just like this year with Durant.
For his outstanding play seventeen seasons ago, Durant was recognized as the unanimous National Player of the Year. He won the John R. Wooden Award, the Naismith College Player of the Year Award and all eight other widely recognized honors and awards.
This made Durant the first freshman to win one of the National Player of the Year awards. After the season, he was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder as the second overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. His No. 35 jersey was later retired by the Longhorns.
