Kylian Mbappe has made known his desire to play in the Summer Olympics, although his possible move to Real Madrid could cause problems.
The forward could play for France, under Thierry Henry, in this summer’s tournament in his home country and would be by far the biggest name to appear at the Games.
Although Mbappe has had a fractured relationship with PSG during his seven-year stay at the club, his loyalty to his country has never wavered and he will aim to help them achieve glory at this summer’s European Championships in Germany.
After scoring a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final – only the second player to ever score a final hat-trick in the tournament – he is France’s star man and would catapult them to the favorites for the football tournament if he were present .
While there are potential issues, the 25-year-old has expressed his desire to participate.

“I have always wanted to play in the Olympics and my desire has not changed,” Mbappe said. ‘If I participate in the Olympic Games, then it is a dream, but if I am not allowed, then I will do what I am told.
“The decision still rests with one person and he hasn’t told me yes or no yet.”
It is unclear who Mbappe is referring to, but there are rumors that Real Madrid will not release their French players for the Olympics this summer.
Mbappe appears confident he will join the Spanish team in the summer if he leaves PSG on a free transfer, so he may have to ask the club for special permission.
The gold medal match at the Paris Olympics will take place on August 9, the Super Cup will be held on August 14 and the first weekend of La Liga will start on August 17.

The rules require players in the men’s Olympic Games squads to be under 23 years old, or born on January 1, 2001 or later, although three older players are allowed.
Henry, the current France U21 manager, will hope to have Mbappe available, but it is more unlikely than likely that will be possible despite the wishes of both men.
He said: ‘This is one of the problems players have when they are good. They are in a situation where they have to go to the European Championship. If you go to the Champions League, you have to play it. Of course, if you go deep, it’s much longer.
‘I haven’t spoken to him directly about the Olympic situation yet. I called players, as you know. Of course I’ll keep that to myself.
‘But Kylian recently came on TV and said himself that he would like to play them. No one here wouldn’t want Kylian Mbappe in their team, that’s just crazy.
‘But he also said – and I am aware of this – that it will depend on the team. The Olympics don’t fall on the FIFA dates, so the teams can say no.’
