Louisiana felon mom ‘heard son, 4, shoot himself in the head then went back to SLEEP instead of checking on youngster, who’s now critically-ill
A Louisiana mother has been arrested after hearing her four-year-old son shot himself and went back to sleep instead of visiting him.
Arieana Scott, 22, reportedly had a firearm stored in the bedroom closet of her Batron Rouge home when her son gained access to it.
At some point on the morning of March 20 around 9:30 a.m., the boy shot himself with the unsecured, illegal, modified handgun, police said.
Initially, officers said the mother claimed to have heard the gun discharge from her bedroom and then found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound.
However, an arrest affidavit released Thursday said she went to sleep for a short time before waking up again to find the boy in a pool of blood.

Scott said she called the boy and after not hearing from him, went back to sleep.
It was revealed that Scott tried to claim she didn’t know where the gun came from due to a criminal record for a crime. WBRZ.
She then managed to have the unsecured gun in her bedroom closet, although she doesn’t know how the four-year-old girl got it, police said.
When police arrived and found the gun, they obtained a warrant to search Scott’s home.
They found a loaded .40 caliber Glock pistol equipped with a “switch” that could convert the pistol into an automatic weapon, and a shell casing was found in the boy’s bedroom.
Police found a large bag of marijuana that had been packaged into smaller bags for distribution.
Scott initially tried to concoct a story again, claiming it was her boyfriend’s personal stash, before admitting that she knew it was not for individual use.
The suspect is now in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison facing multiple charges in connection with the shooting.

Police charged Scott with improper supervision of a minor by a parent, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes, and possession of a machine gun.
Due to the discovery of marijuana at her home, she is also charged with possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute drugs from the first program.
Her bond has been set at $65,000 and Child Protective Services has been notified.
Scott’s son himself suffered a gunshot wound to the head and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.
