Don’t be fooled by the propaganda: Helldivers 2 definitely added flying insects

Like Hell divers 2 Developer Arrowhead Game Studios has adjusted the spawn rates for the game’s super-armored Terminids and added a new threat: flying insects. Arrowhead didn’t mention the Terminids with wings in the March 13 patch notes, but players on social media and forums reported seeing the creatures in the game. The new Terminids are called Shriekers and are quite terrifying when they dive and attack.

Arrow-head warned in the patch notes that the modified Chargers and Bile Titans did not lower the difficulty. But players weren’t prepared for exactly what lay ahead.

Staying in line with Hell divers 2 According to lore, Arrowhead denies the bugs’ existence: “Everyone knows ‘bugs can’t fly'” Director Johan Pilestedt posted on X, formerly Twitter. “And I’m not the only one who thinks this. The Ministry of Truth agrees that this is propaganda from insect sympathizers who want to brainwash good people. #Lies”

However, on Friday Pilestedt changed his tune on X, in which he wrote that he always knew there was a “possibility” that flying insects existed – and also that everyone knows that insects can fly. He also added, viz Hell divers 2 mode, that it may or may not have to do with a recent major order where players were tasked with testing and activating Termicide Towers, which would theoretically wipe out the bugs.

“For those unpatriotic citizens questioning the timing of testing and deployment of TCS and Termicide, this is completely coincidental and unrelated,” he wrote. “9/9 Reputable and Super Earth-sanctioned scientists agree.”

This update – or propaganda, depending on who you ask – is part of that Hell divers 2‘s evolving story. Although the game has no campaign, the story is present everywhere: from the intro and the tutorial, Hell divers 2 creates a world of propaganda and unabashed patriotism. That’s the government not fascist! It insists on freedom! As Polygon’s Cass Marshal put it, “We know exactly what kind of war this is, and how each individual Helldiver is doomed to be dissolved by bile or exploded by a robot,” they wrote. “But they don’t know that, and by the time the reveal is played out, the whole thing becomes a wonderfully dark comedy.”

Flying insects And the denial of it all is just part of it Hell divers 2 story. You may remember a similar situation with the addition of mechs. And now that the flying Terminids have been confirmed, we expect the game to continue and surprise us.

Update (March 22): Added an update from Pilestedt confirming that flying Terminids do indeed exist in the game and that this was likely due to the Termicide tests from a previous major order.
