It’s raining in Miami!

Nice weather is one of the first things you think of when it comes to Miami, but when it rains, it can really rain.

Too bad for those present who got there early to see the start of the action, but hopefully it won’t last too long!

Rain delay at the Miami Open

The Miami Open has confirmed that there will be no action until 12pm local time – 4pm GMT.

Koltsov’s death is the second tragedy to hit Sabalenka

It was the second tragedy in five years for the world number two.

Koltsov played for the national team at the 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympics and also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL.

Tuesday’s shocking news bears frightening similarities to an earlier tragedy in Sabalenka’s life.

Her father, Sergey, was also a former professional hockey player and died in 2019 at the age of 43.

Worried about the weather?

Well, Miami-Dade and Broward counties are under a flood and wind advisory through Saturday evening CBS News.

The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center has placed South Florida under a Level 1 (low) risk for heavy rain, flooding, hail and isolated tornadoes.

South Florida could see three to five inches of rain.

It’s a day full of stars, so let’s hope the rain stays away!

Sabalenka is going for her first Miami Open trophy

The Australian Open champion is looking to continue her successful year on the court as she ramps up her Miami Open campaign.

Last year she only reached the quarter-finals, where she suffered a shocking defeat against Sorana Cirstea.

That is her best performance in the competition to date, and the same can be said of Badosa who reached the quarter-finals in 2022.

Within the friendship of Sabalenka and Badosa

What Sabalenka might appreciate on her return to court today is the fact that the person staring back at her from the other side of the net will be her best friend Paula Badosa.

Badosa has admitted that she has been in constant contact with the Belarusian since the death of Sabalenka’s former partner.

The Spaniard has admitted it will be “uncomfortable” playing her best friend after such a tragedy.

Although the pair have faced each other four times on tour so far, their time together transcends off the field.

Sabalenka decided to participate in the Miami Open

Considering what happened, you wouldn’t blame Aryna Sabalenka if she wanted to withdraw from the Miami Open.

But she decided to continue her preparations for the Miami Open and was photographed training this week.

Ahead of her Round of 64 match against her best friend, Spain’s Paula Badosa, on Friday, Sabalenka took to the court to work on her forehand and serve Wednesday afternoon.

Despite her sadness, the Belarusian tennis star turned her focus to her training with her coaches.

At one point, Sabalenka, who appeared to grimace occasionally, wiped her face with an orange towel as she took a break on a courtside bench.
