IT modernization is driven by AI, security and sustainability
Organizations are once again looking to modernize their IT infrastructure, with the majority seeing the use of hybrid multi-cloud as the way forward, powered by artificial intelligence (AI), security and sustainability.
This is evident from the Enterprise Cloud Index (ECI), the sixth global survey and research report, published by hybrid multi-cloud computing company Nutanix.
According to the report, IT teams are eager to move applications and data from one environment to another due to security and innovation concerns. But the process is challenging and hybrid multi-cloud models are seen as a possible solution. Therefore, its use is expected to double in the next one to three years, Nutanix argues.
Multicloud will be everywhere
As AI continues to penetrate deeper into business environments, increasing investments to support AI strategies seems to be everyone’s top priority, followed closely by investments in IT modernization.
“80% of ECI respondents plan to invest in IT modernization, while 85% plan to increase their investments specifically to support AI,” said Lee Caswell, SVP, Product and Solutions Marketing at Nutanix. “What this year’s ECI shows is that organizations must support the technologies of tomorrow by future-proofing their IT infrastructure today.”
Hybrid multicloud, Caswell concludes, emerges as the best and most flexible solution.
The report further claims that hybrid multi-cloud infrastructure deployments will become an infrastructure standard. In fact, nine in ten (90%) of ECI respondents want to be “cloud smart,” leveraging the best environment (e.g., data center, public cloud, edge) for each of their applications.
Additionally, four in five (80%) of respondents believe that hybrid IT environments are most beneficial to their ability to manage applications and data.
Even executives see this as a priority, as nearly half of survey respondents said the introduction of hybrid IT is a key priority for their Chief Information Officers.
